Jane's First Lead

Our three walks this weekend (Sunday 20th, February) each went from Clay Bank {NZ 572 034} to Battersby {NZ 598 076} using three different routes (A, B and C walks). The A-walk was very expertly led by Jane Thompson - see the picture below. There were ten people in the group - including three new A-walkers.

Jane
Jane joined Stockton Rambling Club (SRC) in July 2010 and, since becoming a member, has been a keen supporter of our A-walks. Prior to joining SRC, Jane's achievements include climbing Mount Kilimanjaro (in 2003) and, in the same year, completing the Coast-to-Coast long-distance walk. She has also spent a number of years as a member of the Cleveland Search and Rescue Team. This summer she and Lorraine Matthews (another of our SRC A-walkers) are planning to complete the Hadrian's Wall Walk - a distance of 84 miles - going from Bowness-on-Solway to Wallsend.

During today's A-walk Jane proved an able leader and those present on the walk celebrated her inaugral 'leading' event with a candle-lit lunch-stop and a glass of cava in the shooting-hut on Slape Wath Moor {SE 594 986}.

Well done Jane! We all appreciated your superb leadership during your splendid A-walk today.
