A-Walking: Beamish to Lanchester via No Place

Our three walks on Sunday, 10th February, each took place in the County Durham area. Both the A-Walk and the B-Walk started from the A693 near Beamish {NZ 225 535} while the C-Walk set off from South Pelaw {NZ 268 527}. All walks finished in Lanchester {NZ 166 474}.
 
The A-Walk was led by Phil Barker (pictured below) who stood in, at short notice, for Jill Johnson who was indisposed. There were six walkers in the group. The distance covered was 14.0 miles. Setting off from our drop-off point at 10:18 am, we headed north and then followed a network of footpaths that took us in a counter-clockwise direction around the perimeter of Beamish Open-air Museum. Returning to the A693 at {NZ 214 533}, we next headed south towards the village of No Place. Continuing our southerly trek, we made our way to Twizell Dykes and Waldridge.
 
Leaving Waldridge on a westerly bearing, we navigated a route to Edmondsley and Burnhope. From here, we maintained our westerly trek in order to arrive in Lanchester at about 16:43 pm - in plenty of time for some refreshments in a local hostelry.
