Feedback: SRC's Sixtieth Birthday Party
Following the successful 60th Birthday Celebration of the Stockton Rambling Club (which was held on Friday, 15th February), Bill McTimoney has sent the following short report.
Hi all. We had an excellent night with the topside of 60 attending. Blackwell’s catering was super; with plenty of leftovers - our thanks to all those who brought all the additionals - sweets, flowers, tablecloths (yes! It was a posh do!), etc.
The presentation by David Lax from the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was very well done and informative - it served to reinforce our gratitude for the services they provide.
The raffle (some 70 prizes arrived on the night!) was rapid fire and all over in about ten minutes - I was quite surprised at how fast some of our members were to be up to grab a prize before someone else appeared at the table! Then there was lots (though not enough) time for “chat”.
David Lax (from GNAAS) had brought some memorabilia with him and sold over £200 worth. The raffle raised around £200 too. A few people, who couldn’t make the evening, had also sent in monetary donations. That set me thinking - we’ll keep the GNAAS donation open until the next committee meeting on 27th February and if anyone who couldn’t make the evening wishes to make a donation they can email the amount to me and then let me have it by cheque, or cash if they are to see me before 27th - I’ll be out on Wednesday and Sunday this week.
