A-Walking: Hummerbeck to Baydale Beck
Our three walks on Sunday, 1st December, each took place in the Darlington area of County Durham. The A-Walk started in Hummerbeck, the B-Walk commenced at West Auckland and the C-Walk set off from Limekiln Cottage. All of the walks finished at Baydale Beck.
The A-Walk was led by Bill McTimoney - pictured below. There were 11 walkers in the group and the walk covered a distance of 16 miles.
Leaving Hummerbeck in a south-westerly direction, Bill's route took in Hummerbeck Lane, Hilton, West Leaside, Stobhill Lane, Bolam (where we stopped for lunch), Killerby, Summerhouse, Denton, Walworth Park, Willowbeds Plantation (tea-stop), High Coniscliffe and Low Coniscliffe. We arrived at our destination near the Baydale Beck hostelry just as darkness was falling.
Many thanks to Bill for leading a great walk.
