A-Walking: Stanhope to Hamsterley via Bollihope

On Sunday, 23rd March, our three walks each took place in the Weardale area of County Durham. The A-Walk and B-Walk both started at Stanhope while the C-Walk set off from Frosterley. All walks finished in Hamsterley.

The A-Walk was led by Phil Barker - pictured below. There were six walkers in the group. Our route covered a distance of 16 miles.

From our drop-off point near Shittlehope Burn Farm (Stanhope) our route took in Parson Byers, Bollihope, the B6278 road at NY 991 320, Sharnberry Gill (lunch-stop), Sharnberry Flat, Black Hill, meeting of the Grains, Potato Hill (tea-stop), Low Redford, Bedburn, Howlea Bridge and Hamsterley.

We had a very pleasant day - even though there was some hailstones and wind on the high ground!
