A-Walking: Newgate Bank to Kirkbymoorside

Our three walks on Sunday, 6th April, each took place in the Bilsdale area of the North York Moors. The A-Walk started at Newgate Bank, the B-Walk set off from near Oscar Park Farm while the C-Walk commenced at Kirk Dale. All of the walks finished at Kirkbymoorside.

The A-Walk was led by Phil Barker - pictured below. There were seven walkers in the group. Our route covered a distance of 15.8 miles.

From our drop-off point at Newgate Bank our route took us to Rievaulx Bank, Potter House, Old Kiln, Cinderhill Wath, Stork House, Ankness, Mitchell Hagg Wath (lunch-stop), Otterhills, Grays, Gillamoor, Cockpitt Hall (tea-stop) and Kirkbymoorside.

Overall, we had a very pleasant day - the weather was reasonable and the scenery was terrific.

Hi Phil. Good photos and report there. I remember Stork House. I have a 95 mile walk planned for July on the North York Moors and this one place, I would like to visit this place on route.

Hi Martin. Good to hear from you. Yes, Stork House and the area around it are really lovely. We had some good weather too. We were out checking a walk on Wild Boar Fell and Kirkby Stephen yesterday. It was so cold on the high ground - real winter conditions. Enjoy your 95 mile walk on the NYM. See you soon.
Phil.
