Wednesday Evening Walking from Saltburn (2012-07-25)
On Wednesday, 25th July, a small group of mid-week walkers met at 7:00 pm in the car park at the Ship Inn for a five-mile circular walk in the Saltburn area. The route that the ten walkers followed took in Saltburn Gill, Bennison Banks, Brotton, Ings Lane, Hunley Hall golf course and a section of the Cleveland Way. Details of the route can be seen by clicking on the button below.
As we walked in a north-westerly direction along the Cleveland Way (near Hunt Cliff), we had some beautiful views of the coast-line and we also experienced a magnificant sun-set. As the sun appeared to 'sink' into the sea on the horizon, it reminded me of the sinking of the Titanic - as it was depicted in the film starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. What an experience!
After the expedition, members of the group met in the Ship Inn for refreshments before making their way home.
Many thanks to Fiona Taylor for planning and leading the walk.
