During the month of December, the rambling club had three successful A-walks.
On December 2nd, Jane Thompson (pictured below) led a walk from the car park on Gerrick Lane over the North York Moors to Slapewath.
During the day's trek, we visited Robin Hood's Butts, Clitherbeck Farm, Oakly Side, Danby Castle, Ainthorpe Rigg, Castleton, Box Hall, Moorside, Sand Hill, Brown Hill, Stanghow Moor and Aysdale Gate. After the walk members of the Club congregated in the carvery restaurant at the Fox and Hounds hostelry for an evening meal.
A selection of the photos that were taken during our 'recce' for this walk, and the actual walk itself, can be seen by clicking on the pink button below.
On Sunday, December 9th, Peter Cull (pictured below), led a very pleasant circular walk from Hart Village.
Our route took us east to Hart Station and then north along the Durham Coast Path to
Blackhall Colliery and Castle Eden Dene. After walking part of the way through Castle Eden Dene Nature Reserve, we returned to Hart via Heselden, Low Heselden Farm, Sheraton Farm and Butts Lane.
Some of the photos that were taken during this walk can be seen by clicking on the pink button below.
The final A-walk for 2012 was held on Sunday 16th December and was led by John Begley (see picture below). John's route took us from Kirklevington across numerous muddy fields and flooded footpaths to Swainby.
During the walk we visited Spell Close Farm, Leven Bridge, Leven Close Farm,
Middleton-on-Leven, Low Foxton, High Foxton, Hutton Rudby, Sexhow, Lincoln Farm, Carlton and Faceby.

Unfortunately, I was only able to get out on two A-walks in November - so I can only comment on those that I managed to attend.
On Sunday, 11th November, Jeff Hunt (pictured below) led a superb walk across the North York Moors. His route took us from Chop Gate to Ingleby Cross.
During the walk we visited High Crookleigh Farm, Fangdale Beck, Low Thwaites, Lane House, Far House, Lower Locker Farm, Dale Head, Oak Dale, Osmotherley and Arncliffe Wood.
Some of the photos that were taken during our expedition can be seen by clicking on the pink button below:
Unfortunately, Jane Thompson's circular walk from Osmotherley on Sunday 27th November had to be cancelled because there were not enough fare-paying walkers on the coach. Only about 12 people turned out as a result of the extremely inclement weather conditions - heavy rain and wind.
