LAKES DAY: Sunday Walking at Grasmere

On Sunday, 4th September, the Stockton Rambling Club will have three walks in the Grasmere area of the Lake District. All walks will start and finish in Grasmere {NY 336 076} - see the following map.

The A-walk will take in Stone Arthur, Fairfield, Dove Crag, High Pike and Low Pike.
 
The B-walk will visit Greenup Edge, Thunacar Knott, Pavey Ark and Eadale.
 
The C-walk will pass through Dove Cottage, Loughrigg Terrace, The How and Loughrigg Fell.
 
This is a Route 2 coach pick-up and is also an early start (Billingham: 8.30 am, Acklam: 8.45 am and Stockton: 9.00 am).
 
Note: because of the road race, the Acklam pick-up will be at Croft Avenue opposite Canfield Gardens.

Sunday Walking to Chop Gate

On Sunday, 28th August, the Stockton Rambling Club will have three walks in the Bilsdale area of the North York Moors. All walks will finish in Chop Gate {SE 558 993} - see the following map.

The A-walk will start at Newgate Bank {SE 564 888} and will take in Hanging Stone, Stork House, Spout House and Stump Cross.
 
The B-walk will also commence at Newgate Bank and will visit Fair Hill, Hawnby Bridge, Brewster Hill and Cock How.
 
The C-walk will set off from Chop Gate {SE 558 993} and will follow a circular route that passes through Three Howes, Cold Moor, Clay Bank and Urra Farm.
 
This is a Route 1 coach pick-up (Billingham: 9.00 am, Stockton: 9.15 am and Acklam: 9.30 am).
 
Note: after the walks, tea and scones will be available at Chop Gate Village Hall.

On Thursday, 18th August, Stockton Rambling Club has a special event organised. This will take the form of a Tour of Auckland Castle followed by an optional 6-mile C-Walk. Please meet at the castle at 10:15 for a 10:30 tour.
