A-Walking: Guisborough to Battersby via Commondale

Our three walks on Sunday, 23rd February, each took place in the north-western region of the North York Yoors. The A-Walk started in Guisborough, the B-Walk set off from Birk Brow and the C-Walk commenced at Charltons. All walks finished in the small village of Battersby.
 
The A-walk was led by Jeff Hunt - pictured below. There were five walkers in the group and the distance covered was 15.5 miles.

From our drop-off location near Guisborough Priory our route took in Little Waterfall Farm, Guisborough Woods, Westworth Wood, the Quakers Causeway, Brown Hill, Sand Hill, Commondale (lunch-stop), Scale Cross, Sloethorn Park, Baysdale, Warren Farm, Kildale (tea-stop), Park Farm and Battersby.

Early-March Mid-Week Walking (2014-03-06)

Sunday Walking to Barnard Castle

On Sunday, 2nd March, the Stockton Rambling Club will have three walks in the Teesdale area of County Durham. All walks will finish in Barnard Castle {NZ 051 166} - see the following map.

The A-walk will start at Whorlton {NZ 105 149} and will take in Wilson House, How Tallon, Thwaite and Rutherford Bridge.
 
The B-walk will commence at Gainford {NZ 173 168} and will visit Winston, Cleatlam, Streatlam Grove and Stainton.
 
The C-walk will also set off from Gainford and will pass through Whorlton, Mortham Tower and Eggleston Bridge.

Sunday Walking to Battersby

The B-walk will commence at Birk Brow {NZ 658 148} and will visit Commondale, Birk Brow, Scale Cross and Kildale.
 
The C-walk will set off from Charltons {NZ 647 156} and will pass through Hutton Moor, Percy Cross and Kildale.

A-Walking: Bilsdale to Helmsley via Stump Cross

Our three walks on Sunday, 9th February, each took place in the Bilsdale area of the North York Moors. The A-Walk set off from the B1257 road near Cam House, the B-Walk departed from Fangdale Beck while the C-Walk left from Newgate Bank. All walks finished in Helmsley
 
The A-Walk was led by Phil Barker - pictured below. There were five walkers in the group.

Our route covered a distance of 15.6 miles and took in Bride Stones, Nab Ridge, Tripsdale, Stump Cross, Bransdale Ridge, Lambfold Hill, Pockley Moor, Hanging Stone, Birk Nab Farm, Lund Farm, Howl Wood Farm, Hasty Bank Farm, Riccal Dale Wood, Carlton and Ash Dale.
 
We had an exciting day - especially the section of the walk that took us across Riccal Dale Wood. Here we were able to watch high-speed cars taking part in an autocross event!

A-Walking: Clay Bank to Ingleby Greenhow via Cold Moor

Our three walks on Sunday, 2nd February, each took place in the north-western region of the North York Moors. The A-Walk and the B-Walk both set off from Clay Bank while the C-Walk commenced at Stokesley. All the walks finished in Ingleby Greenhow.
 
The A-Walk was led by Jane Thompson - pictured below. There were four walkers in the group.

Jane's route covered a distance of 15.4 miles and took in White Hill, Wain Stones, Cold Moor, Seave Green, Tripsdale, Badger's Gill, Round Hill, Jackson's Bank and Bank Foot.
